Karol Mack is widely recognized as one of the foremost interpreters of Western landscape. Her oil paintings evoke the essence and beauty of the natural world as only a master of painting can do. The special magic of Karol’s work is communicated through light, color and her own unique vision. James H. Pickering comments, “At their best, Moran and Bierstadt, like the artists of the Hudson River School, capture the grand, unspoiled, yet often fearsome qualities of the American wilderness and do so in ways that inspire feelings of transcendence (or, as Karol Mack calls it, ‘sacredness’) – that reverential, if momentary insight that nature indeed reflects the divine hand of the Creator.” Karol finds her creativity in the rugged natural settings of the Western United States. Her paintings range from large renderings of the majestic Rocky Mountains to intimate vignettes of aspen groves, winding steams, waterfalls, and meadows that exhibit what Pat Mckee recognizes as the sublime. He states, “The sublime is a deeply moving aesthetic value. It can be found in many different forms of landscape, but seldom as alive and moving as in the vast, towering peaks of Karol Mack’s paintings.” Her artwork can be found at Elkhorn Art Gallery, Greenburg Fine Art, Loch Vale Fine Art, and Sylvan Gallery. She is an Artist Exhibiting Member—Salmagundi Club, NY, a Signature Member—Oil Painters of America, a Founding Member – Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters, and an Artists Fellow—American Artists Professional League. A few major awards include: Award of Excellence—Oil Painters of America, Jessie B. McReynolds Award—Salmagundi Club National Show, NY, and the Director’s Choice Award—American Artist Professional League. She has also illustrated numerous books.
